DR. SOPHIA BRANDSTETTER

With over 20 years of experience in the field, I specialize in supporting people seeking long-term, in-depth psychodynamic work.
You may feel stuck—whether in relationships, your career, or within yourself. Perhaps you’re grappling with anxiety, depression, or the lingering effects of trauma. Complex family dynamics or recurring patterns may keep resurfacing, making it difficult to move forward. Even if you don’t yet have all the words for what you’re experiencing, you know something needs to change. In our work together, we’ll explore the stories that have shaped you—early-life experiences, relationship struggles, and emotional wounds. Our process will go beyond intellectual understanding to cultivate deep emotional insight and meaningful transformation. Rather than treating symptoms alone, we’ll uncover the underlying forces that drive these patterns and open the door to new ways of being.
My approach is deeply informed by psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, and relational theories. As we unravel ingrained patterns, the therapeutic space becomes one where trust, connection, and possibility can emerge. If you’re feeling disconnected, overwhelmed, or uncertain about the way forward, we’ll begin wherever you are. When you’re ready, I invite you to reach out for a free consultation so we can connect and walk through the process together.
I also provide Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) as an additional modality for clients seeking support in their healing journey.

Sometimes therapy begins when the ways you have gotten through life are no longer enough. You may be facing addiction, trauma, grief, aging, loss, identity exploration, or a transition that has left you questioning who you are now and how you want to move forward.
I work with you when you’re ready to look honestly at the places in life that feel painful, complicated, or unresolved. Early in my career, I worked with people recovering from heroin dependence, an experience that brought me directly into the realities of addiction, trauma, survival, and change. That work continues to shape the way I understand suffering, not as something to quickly fix, but as something that often holds important meaning.
With more than two decades of clinical experience, I bring a calm, grounded presence to the therapy room. I am drawn to the moments when something deeper begins to emerge: the grief beneath the anger, the fear beneath the control, the longing beneath the numbness, or the questions that surface when life no longer feels the way it once did.
I also offer an affirming, judgment-free space for LGBTQIA+ pride community. Whether you are exploring identity, navigating relationships, processing family dynamics, or wanting therapy where you do not have to explain or defend who you are, my goal is to create a space where you can feel seen, respected, and supported as your full self.
My work is thoughtful, compassionate, and depth-oriented. Sessions offer space to slow down, reflect, and understand what has been difficult to face alone. My training in Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy adds another dimension if you’re seeking deeper access to insight, emotional processing, and self-understanding.
I also find deep meaning in working with maturing adults as they navigate the beauty and complexity of later life. I value the reflection, reckoning, wisdom, and change that can emerge as you face questions of identity, loss, purpose, relationships, and how they want to live moving forward.

Therapy can help you slow down, make sense of what’s been getting in the way, and start becoming the person you know you’re capable of being. You may feel caught in old survival patterns, unsure how to move forward, or ready to understand why certain emotions, relationships, and experiences still feel so hard to hold.
I help you work through trauma, anxiety, depression, identity exploration, relationship stress, grief, and major life transitions. My work is especially supportive for those of you who want to understand how past experiences continue to shape present-day emotions, boundaries, attachment patterns, and self-worth.
I also work with adolescents as they move through the difficult years of hormonal changes, shifting friend groups, identity development, emotional intensity, and instability. My therapy approach can offer teens a steady place to feel understood while helping them build language for what they are feeling, strengthen self-awareness, and navigate relationships with more support.
I also find deep meaning in working with aging adults as they navigate the emotional shifts that can come with this stage of life. I value walking alongside you through these beautiful years of reflection, helping create space for grief, meaning, identity, connection, and the wisdom that can emerge when life begins to be seen from a different vantage point.
In sessions, I offer a warm, affirming, and collaborative space where all parts of your experience are welcome. My approach is relational, trauma-informed, and paced with care, helping you feel more connected to yourself while building insight, emotional safety, and practical tools for change.
I draw from EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), psychodynamic therapy, mindfulness, and Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy to support deeper healing and integration. I am affirming of LGBTQIA+ folx and work with people across life stages.

In our work together, I seek to help you understand your story, recognize how your experiences shape your relationships with life’s challenges, and shift your perspective on the problems you are facing. Whether you’re navigating grief, a life transition, relationship issues, or emotional struggles, our work will focus on re-framing the way you view the problem. I use Narrative Therapy to help you tell your story, identify values, beliefs, and strengths that can aid in resolution, and work collaboratively to transform how you relate to the problem. I also offer the option of experiencing therapy with my loving therapy dogs, Oliver and Emma, adding an extra layer of comfort and support. Through this unique, integrative approach, we work together to build a new narrative that can lead to healing, understanding, and growth.
